How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

    Our client is one of the leading names within the realm of Geospatial Engineering and Ground Investigation. The are currently seeking a motivated and detail-driven Utility Surveyor to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in utility mapping and PAS128 surveys who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality data to industry standards.

    You’ll play a key role in delivering underground utility surveys across a range of exciting projects, working with cutting-edge equipment and a supportive, professional team.

    The role is open to all candidates the NW, SW regions with a focus on Birmingham.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    * Conducting PAS128-compliant utility surveys to the highest standards

    * Locating and mapping underground services using:

    * Electromagnetic Locators (EML)

    * Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

    * GPS & Total Stations

    * Interpreting and working from statutory utility records

    * Carrying out topographical surveys and data collection

    * Ensuring accuracy, quality assurance, and compliance on all deliverables

    * Working efficiently to project timescales Liaising with clients and maintaining strong professional relationships

    What We’re Looking For

    We’re keen to hear from candidates who are:

    ✔ Experienced in utility surveying (ideally 1–3+ years)
    ✔ Confident working to PAS128 standards
    ✔ Skilled in multiple detection and survey techniques (GPR, EML, GPS, Total Station)
    ✔ Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality
    ✔ Able to work independently and as part of a team
    ✔ Professional, reliable, and client-focused
    ✔ In possession of a full UK driving licence

    Desirable (but not essential)

    * Experience in topographical surveys

    * Exposure to QA of survey drawings

    * Relevant qualifications (e.g. BTEC, survey-related training)
