How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Design Manager

    Location: Nottingham / Birmingham (mix of site and office-based working)
    Salary: £65,000 - £75,000

    What You'll Do

    Oversee the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring designs meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.

    Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to create cost-effective and efficient designs.
    Manage the project design budget and timeline.
    Work closely with the client team, liaising across multiple projects.
    Maintain effective communication with clients to ensure all agreed actions are delivered and any issues are resolved to their satisfaction.
    Lead design team meetings and provide regular updates to senior management on project progress.
    Ensure all projects adhere to company standards and industry regulations.
    Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
    Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout the design and construction process.

    What We're Looking For

    Skills and Experience

    Proven experience as a Design Manager for a main contractor.
    Experience within the construction industry, specifically across design and build, new build, and refurbishment projects.
    Strong knowledge of current CDM and Building Regulations.
    Experience managing document control systems.

    Ability to oversee the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring designs meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.
    Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver cost-effective and efficient designs.
    Comfortable working closely with client teams across multiple projects.
    Strong communication skills, ensuring all issues are managed and resolved effectively.
    A clear understanding of company standards and industry regulations, ensuring full compliance.
    Ability to coordinate stakeholders effectively to achieve project objectives.
    Experience implementing and maintaining quality control procedures throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
