How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company
A national social justice and housing organisation dedicated to helping people build safer, more stable, and more independent lives. Our work focuses on supporting individuals who may be vulnerable, facing complex challenges, or experiencing barriers to secure housing. Through a combination of tailored tenancy support, high‑quality housing management, and strong partnerships with local agencies, we aim to create positive pathways for people to thrive in their communities.

    Your new role
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Housing Officer to join our team, managing a portfolio of properties and supporting tenants across a designated area. You will play a key role in delivering an intensive housing management service to a core group of service users, ensuring their tenancies are sustained, properties remain safe and compliant, and all organisational and statutory requirements are met. This is a highly rewarding role where you will make a meaningful impact on individuals' housing stability and overall wellbeing.
In this role, you will provide direct support to tenants to help them successfully manage their tenancies, assisting with housing benefit claims and linking them with appropriate support services where needed. You will undertake initial and regular assessments of service users, including risk assessments, to ensure eligibility and identify support needs.Working closely with the Housing Management Team, you will issue tenancies, complete sign‑ups, and ensure tenants fully understand their responsibilities. You will also be involved in ordering furniture and essential goods for properties and will collaborate with the Asset Management Team to maintain property standards, ensure repairs are reported promptly, and confirm homes are safe, compliant, and ready to let. Maximising rent collection and adhering to arrears management procedures will also form an essential part of your role.

    What you'll need to succeed
You will uphold the highest professional standards, treating all service users with dignity and respect. You will work in partnership with the wider Housing Management team to ensure compliance with voids and arrears targets, tenancy law, and internal housing policies. Building positive relationships with local communities, neighbours, and landlords is key, as is working collaboratively with internal teams across Quality, Policy, HR, Finance, and IT to deliver an excellent service. You may occasionally deputise for the Area Manager and take the lead on specific portfolio responsibilities. Flexibility is essential, and you may be required to work across more than one area when needed. You will also need to have a full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle for this role.

    What you'll get in return
In return for your commitment and contribution, you will benefit from a supportive working environment where your development and wellbeing are valued. This role offers a temporary‑to‑permanent opportunity, giving you the chance to build a long‑term career with a purpose‑driven organisation. You will receive £14.80 per hour, paid weekly, providing a consistent and reliable income. In addition, you will be able to claim expenses related to travel and operational duties, ensuring you are fully supported while carrying out your role.
