How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Technical Services Manager
    Reading, Berkshire (RG30 4EJ)- On Site
    Salary: £65,000 to £80,000
    Location: Fully site based, 5 days on site

    A strong Technical Services Manager can transform the way a site performs.

    We are supporting the search for a Technical Services Manager to lead technical service delivery at a Reading site. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for engineering operations, maintenance delivery, compliance, safe systems of work, contractor management and day-to-day site standards. The successful person will be expected to be on site five days a week, so this role is ideal for someone who wants to be visible, involved and close to the team and client.

    The position includes leading maintenance activity, allocating tasks, overseeing work orders and preventive maintenance, managing site documentation, coordinating specialist contractors, resolving operational issues and supporting budget and performance targets. It also carries responsibility for maintaining high standards across procedures, reporting and service delivery.

    We are keen to hear from candidates with a solid background in technical services within building services, facilities management or estates environments. You will need experience leading teams, managing compliance and working with contractor partners, as well as strong knowledge of work order control and maintenance systems. Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments would be highly attractive, particularly where this includes water systems management, HTMs and safe systems of work.

    Relevant engineering or building services qualifications are expected, and this role will suit someone who combines technical credibility with sound judgement, organisation and the ability to lead service delivery to a high standard.
