How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are working with a well known residential developer, known for building high‑quality homes and sustainable communities. As they continue to grow across the East Midlands region, their Northampton division is looking for a skilled and motivated Engineer to join the Technical/Engineering team.

    The Role

    As an Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of their residential developments from land acquisition through to site completion. This includes working closely with internal departments, external consultants and on‑site teams to ensure engineering designs are accurate, compliant and cost‑effective.

    Responsibilities

    Prepare, review, and coordinate technical engineering designs and drawings.

    Assist with infrastructure, drainage, highway, and foundation design reviews.

    Manage technical information flow between consultants, contractors, and the wider team.

    Provide engineering support to site teams to resolve technical issues as they arise.

    Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant regulations, standards, and NHBC requirements.

    Support feasibility studies, land assessments, and planning submissions.

    Maintain accurate records and ensure timely distribution of technical information.

    About you

    They’re looking for someone who is proactive, detail‑oriented and passionate about delivering high‑quality developments.

    Essential skills & experience

    Previous engineering experience within housebuilding, civil engineering, or construction.

    Strong understanding of residential infrastructure design (roads, sewers, levels, drainage).

    Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering reports.

    Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.

    Proficiency with design and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD).

    Relevant industry qualifications (HNC, HND, Civil Engineering degree or similar).

    Desirable

    Experience working with local authorities, utilities providers and NHBC.

    Knowledge of SuDS, Section 38/104/278 processes and adoption standards.
