How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Parkinson Gray Associates delivers a proven service to some of the leading Consulting Engineering and Contracting businesses within the British construction industry, predominantly across the Building Services, Energy and Sustainability sectors.

Are you a detail-driven Estimator looking to work on projects that genuinely make a difference? This is an opportunity to join a specialist contractor operating in a unique and growing area of the healthcare sector, where your input directly supports critical clinical environments.

Our client is an established, independently operated business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions into healthcare settings across the UK. They’ve built their success on technical expertise, reliability, and a deep understanding of complex, regulated environments.

Working at the intersection of construction, engineering, and healthcare delivery, they support projects within hospitals and clinical facilities where precision, compliance, and collaboration are essential.

What sets them apart is their focus and culture. This is a tight-knit, knowledgeable team where individuals are trusted, supported, and encouraged to contribute. There’s no unnecessary hierarchy - just a professional, down-to-earth environment where people take pride in delivering important work to a high standard.

If you’re looking for a role where your work has real-world impact, and where you can develop expertise within a specialist and respected sector, this is an excellent opportunity.

    Location: Sheffield
    Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience)
    Working Arrangement: Office-based

    The Role

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in preparing accurate and commercially sound cost estimates for projects within healthcare environments. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure tenders are both competitive and technically aligned.

Projects are typically refurbishment and new build schemes with values generally under £1 million, offering a varied and hands-on workload.

This role would suit someone who enjoys analytical work, thrives on detail, and wants to be part of a business delivering essential infrastructure projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities
    • Prepare detailed cost estimates across materials, labour, and subcontract elements
    • Engage with suppliers to obtain competitive and accurate quotations
    • Assess technical requirements and ensure alignment with relevant standards
    • Identify risks and opportunities within tender submissions
    • Support value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives
    • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and supporting documentation
    • Maintain and develop internal cost databases and benchmarks

    Essential Skills and Experience

    • Experience in an estimating role within electrical, M&E, fit-out, or specialist installation sectors
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications with confidence
    • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project costing
    • Proficiency in Excel and estimating software
    • High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail
    • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
    • Design awareness is important, with the ability to understand and engage with design intent
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD is beneficial, but not essential

Experience within healthcare, clinical environments, or regulated sectors would be beneficial but is not essential.

    Why Join This Team?

    • Specialist sector – develop expertise in a niche and growing area
    • Meaningful projects – contribute to environments that support patient care
    • Supportive culture – collaborative, professional, and people-focused
    • Stability – join a well-established and steadily growing business
    • Development – opportunities to grow your skills and career

This is an ideal role for an Estimator looking to move into a more specialised sector, or for someone already experienced who wants to work in an environment where their contribution is valued and visible.
