How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Contract Type: Permanent

Are you a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist ready to make a meaningful impact? Or perhaps you’re a Speech and Language Therapist looking for the next step in your career journey.

In this role, you’ll be central to supporting pupils with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, helping them develop the communication skills that allow them to thrive. Your work will empower children to express themselves, build confidence, and engage more fully with the world around them.

Your day will begin with a collaborative morning briefing, offering space to share insights and stay connected with our dedicated team. From there, your work may include 1:1 therapy sessions, small-group interventions, or partnering with teachers in the classroom to embed communication strategies. Every moment offers the chance to make a genuine difference in a child’s life.

You’ll also play a key role in guiding and supporting less experienced therapists, helping to nurture their growth and strengthen the quality of our service. You’ll contribute to developing training materials for colleagues and support university students on placement, enriching the team’s collective understanding of communication development.

If you’re ready to progress into a Specialist role, we’re committed to providing the training, development, and encouragement you need to get there. We recognise how essential protected time is for your clinical development, and we ensure you have the space and support required to deliver the highest standard of care.

This is a meaningful opportunity to help children grow, discover their potential, and build skills that will shape their futures.

A day in the life of a Speech and Language Therapist will involve:

    • Taking a trauma informed approach to clinical work. You’ll work with a small caseload of pupils who will have varying Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, Learning disabilities and Autism. You’ll be able to do this through 1-2-1 support, classroom work and group sessions.
    • Working with the wider team to offer the best support to our pupils, including our onsite creative art therapists, teachers, and teaching assistants, and taking part in Multidisciplinary team meetings.
    • Administration. Whilst doing all your great work with the pupils, we’ll need you to keep their records up to date and carry out all the administrative tasks you’d expect to come with this role. Don’t worry though, during the school holidays you can work from home so that you have the space to do this without it impacting the time you spend with the pupils.

To be a successful Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll need:

    • A recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, along with HCPC Registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language.
    • Good IT skills – We’ll train you on how to use our systems, but it would help if you had a working understanding of using Microsoft packages like Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
    • A full driving licence. Whilst this role is based in a single location, there will be times that you need to attend meetings offsite which would require the use of a vehicle.

In return for your time, you’ll get:

    • Holidays – You’ll get 28 days annual leave, including public holidays.
    • Pension scheme– Our pension scheme is based on you paying in 5%, and us adding 3%.
    • Learning & Development Opportunities – We provide comprehensive learning opportunities for team members to develop themselves.
    • Discounts – You’ll have access to brilliant discounts through the Blue Light Card and our own employee benefits platform.
    • Wellbeing Support – Your wellbeing is always our priority. You’ll have access to mental health and wellbeing support. On top of this, our therapies team offers a six weekly confidential check in clinic, and group reflective practice sessions.
    • Cycle2Work -The cycle to work scheme enables you to buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
    • DBS – As this role required you to have an enhanced DBS carried out, we will cover this cost.
    • After 12 months service - You’ll also be eligible for our Medicash scheme which covers a wide range of medical, health and wellbeing expenses (Including immediate access to a GP!). You’ll get life assurance paid at x2 your annual salary.

Please note that as part of our safer recruitment processes, successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check, and online and social media checks, and reference validation.

At Phoenix Learning and Care, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce, and ensuring we have an inclusive environment for all our team members. We remain committed to ensuring our teams can bring their true selves to work without risk or fear of discrimination.
