How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are recruiting for a long established UK manufacturer of safety and custom signage supplying construction, facilities management, manufacturing and fire safety sectors.

This is a B2B sales role combining new business and account management. It is a hands on position where success is driven by activity, follow up and conversion of enquiries into orders.

What you will be responsible for

You will manage both new business and an existing customer base. The role requires consistent outbound activity as well as strong account management.

    New business generation

You will be expected to actively create opportunities rather than wait for them. This includes outbound calls, following up leads, re engaging lapsed customers and identifying new prospects within target sectors.

You will build your own pipeline and take responsibility for moving opportunities through to close.

    Account Management

You will manage a portfolio of existing customers. This includes handling incoming enquiries, maintaining regular contact, identifying additional opportunities and increasing customer spend over time.

You will be expected to build long term relationships and become a trusted point of contact.

    Quotations and Conversion

A key part of the role is handling quotes from initial enquiry through to order. You will gather requirements, prepare pricing, issue quotations and follow up consistently to convert business.

You will manage multiple quotes at different stages and ensure nothing is missed.

    Tenders and Projects

You will support tender opportunities by working with internal teams to gather information, prepare submissions and meet deadlines.

Some customers will require project based work. You will coordinate internally to ensure delivery meets expectations.

    Internal coordination

You will work closely with management, marketing and production teams. This includes agreeing pricing, supporting bespoke product ranges and ensuring customer requirements are delivered correctly.

    Customer service and issue resolution

You will act as the main point of contact for your customers. You will respond to queries quickly, manage expectations and resolve any issues in a professional manner.

What the role looks like day to day

    • High volume outbound calling to generate new business
    • Following up all open quotations and opportunities
    • Responding to inbound enquiries quickly
    • Preparing and issuing accurate quotations
    • Managing a pipeline of opportunities at different stages
    • Speaking to customers throughout the day
    • Working with internal teams on pricing and delivery
    • Handling problems and finding solutions for customers
    • This is a busy role. Organisation and follow up are critical.

    What you need to demonstrate

    • You must be able to show clear evidence of:
    • B2B sales experience
    • Regular outbound activity such as calling or prospecting
    • Managing customer relationships
    • Handling quotations or pricing
    • Working towards targets or measurable outcomes
    • This role is not suitable for someone who has only reacted to inbound enquiries or attended meetings without owning sales activity.

    Typical backgrounds that work well

    • Internal Sales Executive
    • Sales Executive
    • Account Executive
    • Business Development Executive
    • Junior Account Manager
    • Sectors that translate well include construction, facilities management, fire safety, building services, manufacturing, industrial supplies or trade distribution.

    What will make someone successful

    • Comfortable picking up the phone and creating opportunities
    • Consistent in follow up and not letting opportunities drop
    • Able to manage multiple customers and priorities at once
    • Commercially aware when handling pricing and quotes
    • Resilient when dealing with rejection or slow moving opportunities
    • Able to build trust quickly with customers

What will not work in this role

    • Senior candidates who are no longer hands on
    • Pure account managers with no new business experience
    • Candidates who are not comfortable with outbound activity
    • People who rely only on inbound enquiries

    The opportunity

You will be joining a stable, well established business with a strong reputation and long standing customer relationships.

This is a role where your activity directly impacts results. If you are looking for a position where you can generate business, manage customers and see the outcome of your work, this will suit you.
