How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    UX Designer - Contract

    Retail Client

    Reading - 5 days per week in the office

    £300-£400 per day - Outside IR35


    This UX Designer contract offers the opportunity to work on high-impact eCommerce journeys for a large consumer-facing digital platform. The project focuses on improving how customers discover, view, and engage with products, with design decisions driven by insight, research, and usability best practice. This is a hands-on role within a collaborative on-site team, suited to a contractor who enjoys close partnership with product and technology stakeholders.

    They are a well-established organisation operating at scale within the consumer and retail space, with a strong focus on digital transformation. Design plays a central role in how their customers experience products online, supported by mature research practices and established design systems. The team values clarity, consistency, and practical design solutions that deliver measurable impact across eCommerce journeys.


    The Role and Deliverables


    • Design intuitive, user-centred experiences across key eCommerce journeys
    • Translate UX research, insights, and trends into clear, effective design solutions
    • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma
    • Work within and contribute to established design systems and component libraries
    • Collaborate closely with researchers, product managers, and engineers in an on-site environment
    • Present design concepts and rationale clearly, incorporating feedback iteratively


    Your Skills & Experience


    • Strong experience delivering UX and UI design within eCommerce or consumer-focused digital products
    • Proven ability to convert research and insight into practical, user-focused design outcomes
    • High proficiency with Figma and working within design systems
    • Solid understanding of interaction design, usability, and customer journeys
    • Confident communication and stakeholder engagement skills
    • Comfortable working full time, five days per week, on-site in Reading
