How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Engineer to support a range of construction projects. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions, from initial design through to project completion, ensuring full compliance with client requirements and relevant legislation.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out mechanical engineering design calculations and produce drawings and specifications

    * Assist in the preparation of tender documentation

    * Design, programme, and supervise projects with minimal supervision

    * Oversee heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) installations

    * Supervise on-site works and manage contractors

    * Monitor and direct Clerks of Works and Inspectors as required

    * Liaise effectively with client representatives and stakeholders

    * Ensure adherence to contract documentation and quality standards

    * Prepare cost estimates from pre-contract stage through to final account agreement

    * Comply with all organisational procedures, financial regulations, and standing orders

    * Represent the organisation professionally, maintaining its reputation and profile

    Candidate Profile

    * Strong experience across all areas of mechanical engineering design

    * Proficient in IT systems and AutoCAD (essential)

    * Ability to manage projects independently and meet tight deadlines

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    * Self-motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic

    Qualifications & Experience

    * HND/HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering

    * Minimum of 10 years’ post-qualification experience

    * Proven track record in construction management

    * Experience managing contracts and contractors

    * Demonstrated high-level technical expertise within the construction industry

    Additional Requirements

    * Full UK driving licence (essential)
