How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Town Planner - Chester

    Are you an ambitious Town Planner looking to take the next step in your career within a well-established, multidisciplinary consultancy? I'm currently working on behalf of a highly respected practice in Chester that is looking to strengthen its planning team with the addition of a talented and motivated planner.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team, working across a diverse portfolio of projects spanning residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.

    The Role

    As a Town Planner, you'll play a key role in delivering planning advice and managing projects from inception through to completion. You'll be working closely with colleagues across multiple disciplines, engaging with clients, and liaising with local authorities.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
    Supporting senior team members on complex projects
    Conducting site appraisals and planning research
    Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities
    Contributing to planning strategy and project delivery

    About You

    Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related field
    Working towards or already MRTPI qualified (or equivalent)
    Previous experience in either private consultancy or local authority
    Strong report writing and communication skills
    A proactive and commercially aware approach
