How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Graduate Engineering Geologist
    Leeds
    £26,000 - £28,000

    We are working with a well-established consultancy in Leeds looking to bring on a Graduate Engineering Geologist to support their growing ground investigation and geotechnical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to kickstart their career, gain hands-on site experience, and develop within a supportive and experienced team.

    The Role

    As a Graduate Engineering Geologist, you will be involved in a wide range of site-based and office-based activities, supporting the delivery of ground investigation and geotechnical projects across the UK. You will gain exposure to all stages of projects, from site investigations through to reporting and analysis.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assisting with site investigations including trial pitting, borehole logging, and soil/rock sampling
    Supervising drilling rigs and ensuring works are carried out safely and efficiently
    Logging soil and rock in accordance with British Standards
    Collecting and organising geotechnical and geoenvironmental data
    Supporting the preparation of factual and interpretative reports
    Liaising with contractors, clients, and internal teams
    Ensuring health & safety procedures are followed at all timesRequirements

    Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
    Strong interest in ground investigation and geotechnical engineering
    Willingness to work outdoors and travel to sites when required
    Good communication and report writing skills
    A proactive and enthusiastic attitude to learning
    Full UK driving licence (or working towards)What's on Offer
