Responsibilities:
* Act as the technical lead of a team of engineers and take ownership of design authority to ensure successful delivery of projects, within a specified time frame and budget to specification and quality standards.
* Supervise, coach, mentor and provide support to a team of Engineers when required.
* Ensure the team clearly understand their responsibilities throughout the full project lifecycle from concept through to installation, making key decisions, approving and reviewing deign documentation with the design team.
* Ensure compliance with design practices/guidelines, providing input to continuous improvement activities.
Requirements:
* Experienced working in a multi-discipline design environment and able to share ideas within the team.
* In depth knowledge and experience in design and manufacture of some, or all the following: Cable/Pipe lay, Trenchers, and bespoke Onshore and Offshore equipment.
* Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to the project Engineering team day-to-day. Ensuring that Engineers have clear project deliverables and technical direction.
* Relevant, and up-to-date knowledge of technologies and engineering design techniques.
* Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving with experience of making key decisions throughout the project from concept design through the sea trials).
* Ability to lead, delegate and support the engineering project team to deliver specification, budget and timescale.
* Able to produce high quality work under pressure.
* In depth knowledge of Engineering design and associated techniques including basic mechanics, hand calculations, analysis packages (Ansys, Staad Pro), CAD software packaged (Inventor, AutoCAD).
