How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

5-Axis CNC Programmer — Hypermill / Hurco | Milton Keynes

If you know Hypermill and you've got 5-axis programming experience, this is a role worth stopping for. We're working exclusively with a well-established subcontract precision engineering business in Milton Keynes to place an experienced CNC Programmer into a modern, well-equipped facility where the work is varied, the kit is current, and the hours are genuinely good.

This isn't a tick-box programming role. You'll be taking complex components from CAD model to finished part, working across a diverse mix of subcontract work that keeps things interesting. If you're the type of programmer who takes ownership of their toolpaths and takes pride in the result, you'll fit right in.

    What you'll be doing

    * Offline programming of 5-axis and 3-axis components using Hypermill (Open Mind)

    * Working from customer CAD models and engineering drawings to produce efficient, optimised toolpaths

    * Setting up and proving out programs on Hurco machining centres

    * Collaborating with the shop floor team to refine programs and improve cycle times

    * Managing your own workload across a varied mix of subcontract components

    * Maintaining high standards of quality and first-off accuracy throughout

    What we're looking for

    * Proven experience programming with Hypermill (Open Mind) — this is essential, not desirable

    * Strong 5-axis programming capability; 3+2 and simultaneous experience both valued

    * Familiarity with Hurco controls is a distinct advantage

    * Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D CAD models

    * A methodical, quality-first approach to programming and proving out

    * Subcontract machining background preferred — comfortable working across different component types and materials

    * Someone who can work independently and take ownership of their output

    Why this role stands out

    * Up to £50k for the right programmer — this is a serious salary for a serious candidate

    * Friday finish at 1pm every week — one of the best working weeks in the industry

    * Varied subcontract work — no two weeks the same, genuinely interesting components

    * Modern Hurco machinery with Hypermill CAM — proper kit, properly maintained

    * Overtime paid at time and a third — your extra effort is properly rewarded

    * Stable, well-run business with a strong order book and a team that takes quality seriously
