How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Highly Competitive Salary + Package

At Procter Street, we are trusted commercial advisors to the UKโ€™s infrastructure sector. Our multidisciplinary consultancy supports clients in delivering complex civil engineering schemes with confidence, clarity and commercial control.

We work in partnership with developers, contractors and asset owners across Highways, Utilities, Energy and wider infrastructure, providing strategic commercial leadership from early-stage planning through to final account.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong civil engineering background to join our Commercial team.

    The Opportunity

This is a consultancy-led role offering real influence and client exposure. You will take a leading role in providing commercial advice across a varied portfolio of civil engineering projects โ€” from highways and utilities schemes to major infrastructure works and high-value developments.

This position is about more than cost reporting. It is about shaping procurement strategy, managing risk, driving value, and acting as a trusted advisor to clients.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Leading commercial management across multiple civil engineering projects

    * Delivering strategic cost planning and financial forecasting

    * Advising clients on procurement strategy and contract selection (NEC3/NEC4)

    * Managing risk, value engineering and cost control processes

    * Preparing and managing budgets, cost reports and final accounts

    * Undertaking detailed cost analysis, including repair and maintenance works

    * Supporting subcontractor engagement and commercial negotiations

    * Building strong client relationships and maintaining consultancy standards

    What Weโ€™re Looking For

We are seeking a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor with proven civil engineering experience and a consultancy mindset.

Highways, utilities or wider infrastructure experience would be highly advantageous.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    * Strong knowledge of civil engineering and infrastructure projects

    * Sound understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts

    * Excellent planning and time management skills

    * Strong commercial awareness and analytical ability

    * Confident problem-solver with practical construction knowledge

    * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project

    * Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines

    * Strong communication skills and confidence advising senior stakeholders

    Why Join Procter Street?

    * Work on significant civil engineering and infrastructure schemes

    * Operate in a professional consultancy environment with genuine client influence

    * Opportunity to shape commercial strategy, not just administer contracts

    * Clear progression pathways within a growing consultancy

    * Collaborative culture that values expertise and integrity
