How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    ESOL Tutor
    ABOUT THE ROLE
    Prospero Teaching is looking for a qualified ESOL Tutor to deliver personalised, one-to-one English language support to young learners who are Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children. This role is ideal for an experienced ESOL teacher who wants to make a meaningful difference by providing engaging, supportive sessions that help students improve their English, rebuild their confidence, and re-engage with learning.

    These students have English as an additional language and will have missed significant schooling. Youll plan and deliver bespoke lessons that meet their language needs while fostering a positive, structured learning experience.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    · Deliver tailored ESOL sessions on a 1:1 basis within the students home or out in the community(library or learning hub)
    · Create engaging lesson plans that support language acquisition and confidence building
    · Track student progress and adapt teaching methods as needed
    · Work closely with the Prospero Teaching team to ensure effective support is in place

    ROLE DETAILS
    · Hours: Flexible - from 1 to 2 hours per session; part-time and full-time options available
    · Pay rate: Up to GBP30 per hour

    REQUIREMENTS
    · Recognised ESOL teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, CertTESOL, or equivalent)
    · Minimum 6 months experience teaching ESOL in a UK setting
    · Confident working independently and managing personalised learning plans
    · A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
    · Right to work in the UK
