About the Role
Do you have a passion for supporting young people with additional needs and helping them thrive in a secondary school setting?
Spencer Clarke Group is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Birkenhead who are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support a student on a 1:1 basis, this role would be specialising in trauma.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience supporting young people - whether in education, youth work, care, coaching, or similar environments - who are looking to gain hands-on classroom experience within SEND and progress their career in education. Formal qualifications are not required, though relevant experience or training is welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 support specialising in trauma.
Support pupils with focus, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning.
Work under the guidance of teachers and SEN staff to implement support strategies and individual plans.
Assist in creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction.
Support students both in and out of the classroom where required.What We're Looking For

Have knowledge with trauma support.
Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (preferred but not essential).
