How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Quantity Surveyor - New Build / Residential
    Office:Essex | Site: Hackney |Salary: Up to £85,000 + Package

    We are working with a well-established, privately owned contractor based in Essex, renowned for delivering high-quality affordable housing schemes. With a strong financial footing and a reputation for an excellent working culture, this business boasts genuinely low staff turnover and a supportive, collaborative environment.

    Following the award of a major £250m regeneration scheme, our client is now seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team on Phase 2 of the development, valued at £90m 165-home scheme across 4–13 storey buildings, now advancing through Section 73 approval.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a flagship project, working closely with an experienced Commercial Director and becoming fully embedded in a high-profile scheme that will have a lasting impact on the local community.

    The Role

    * Lead commercial activities on Phase 2 of a large-scale regeneration project

    * Report directly to the Commercial Director

    * Manage cost planning, procurement, and subcontractor packages

    * Oversee financial performance and ensure project profitability

    * Work closely with operational teams to drive efficiency and value

    * Initially office-based in Essex during pre-construction, transitioning to site in Hackney once the project goes live

    About You

    * Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within the residential or affordable housing sector

    * Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage large-scale projects

    * Experience working on regeneration or multi-phase developments is desirable

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

    * A proactive, team-oriented approach
