Packing Desk Operative

Established in 1968, the site has significantly grown in recent years and aims to be the first choice for rigid plastic packaging solutions through our reliability, efficiency, and innovation as a manufacturer of sustainable packaging on a local and global platform.Role Purpose:As part of the Packing Desk team, the aim of the role is to support a smooth, efficient and high quality service as the ‘link’ between the Production and Despatch departments. The role holder is required to undertake a range of general warehousing duties and follow company procedures, working to a high standard of health and safety, to ensure the product is sent to customers in a professional and safe way.Contract: Fixed Term Contract April 2026 to End of September 2026Shifts Available:6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm or 10pm- 6am (£12.21 per hour + enhanced shift allowance)Key Responsibilities:Stack pallets with boxes from the packing belt, ensuring that the products are consistent on each pallet, and stacked safely;Check box quality on full pallets, and wrap correctly to ensure safe transportation through the warehouse and to the customer;Responsible for checking and adhering the correct pallet labels to the appropriate pallet and double-checking the work of others;Safe operation of Powered Pallet Truck (PPT), hand pallet truck, hand scanners, and other such equipment as necessary to the role;Awareness of metal detection system malfunctions, including completion of near-miss forms if metal detection or box damage is observed;Provide an adequate supply of new pallets in the Packing Desk area to ensure a smooth and continuous service;Follow company policy and procedures at all times to support the effective running of the Packing Desk;Responsible for providing a safe working environment by keeping the Packing Desk area clean and tidy;Undertake such other duties that are deemed reasonable and commensurate with the role according to business needs.Experience/SkillsExperience of working in a similar role within a high-volume manufacturing, FMCG or fresh produce environment would be advantageousTeam worker with a flexible approach to the role and othersA hands-on approach to the role with a keen eye for detailPositive working attitude when working alone or within a teamAdditional InformationWhy Work With Us?At Sharpak Aylesham, we think people do their best when they feel valued and supported.
