How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    ESTIMATOR – FC FRAME

    MANCHESTER

SALARY CIRA £65-£75K PLUS EXCELLENT BENEFITS PACKAGE

Our client is a Civil Engineering, Utilities and Concrete Frame Provider contractor based in Manchester, focusing on reinforced concrete frames and groundworks across the North West.

This is an exciting opportunity for an RC Frame Estimator to be a key part of the commercial team, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for reinforced concrete (RC) frame and groundwork packages. You will lead the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission, ensuring all technical and commercial risks are identified and managed.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Tender Preparation: Prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive tenders for RC frame and groundwork projects

    * Technical Analysis: Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to produce accurate take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).

    * Supply Chain Management: Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and analyse competitive quotations.

    * Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering to enhance tender competitiveness.

    * Collaboration: Work closely with pre-construction, design, and project management teams to ensure alignment of estimates with project delivery goals.

    * Site Visits: Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings to gain a comprehensive understanding of project constraints and requirements.

    * Risk Management: Perform risk assessments and develop responses to potential commercial risks within the tender.

    Requirements & Skills

    * Experience: Proven track record (typically 3+ years) as an Estimator specialising in RC frames and groundworks within a sub-contractor or civil engineering environment.

    * Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction methods, sequencing, formwork systems, and buildability.

    * Education: Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred.

    * Software Proficiency: Skilled in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Candy, or Conquest) and Microsoft Excel.

    * Analytical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical abilities with a sharp eye for detail.

    * Communication: Excellent negotiation and communication skills for dealing with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

Should this attractive RC Frame Estimator opportunity be of interest to you, please forward your CV to Anna Maguire.

Whilst we will endeavour to contact you following your response, occasionally due to the high volume of applications this cannot always be possible and we are only able to contact shortlisted candidates. We will keep your details on file and may contact you with future opportunities
