How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are currently working in partnership with a SEN School in NG10 to recruit a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist team.

The School is a highly supportive specialist provision for pupils aged 2–19 with a wide range of needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism, communication needs, sensory impairments, and complex physical or medical needs.

The school provides a nurturing, inclusive environment where every pupil is valued as an individual and supported to develop communication, independence, and overall wellbeing—key drivers embedded across all learning.

    About the School

The school delivers a highly personalised curriculum through specialist pathways designed to meet each child’s needs, including:

    Sensory-based and multi-sensory learning approaches
Communication-focused teaching (verbal, visual, and alternative communication methods)
Development of independence and life skills for adulthood
Social, emotional, and physical development at the core of learning
    Real-world and community-based learning experiences
Pupils follow tailored pathways (such as Discover, Explore, Nurture, and Aspire), ensuring learning is adapted to their level of need, from sensory engagement through to more structured subject-based learning.

    The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex and diverse needs to access learning, build independence, and develop communication skills.

    Key responsibilities include:

Supporting pupils in a highly personalised, multi-sensory learning environment
Assisting with communication strategies (e.g. visual aids, PECS, Makaton where required)
Promoting independence, life skills, and engagement in learning
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour approaches
Providing personal care and physical support where needed
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families
Supporting learning both in the classroom and through community-based activities

    What We’re Looking For

Experience working with SEN, particularly SLD, Autism, or complex needs
A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners
Confidence supporting non-verbal communication and sensory needs
A strong understanding of the importance of routine, structure, and relationships
A genuine passion for helping young people develop independence and life skills
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
