How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Health & Safety Manager – Construction – Social Housing New Build

Location: M4 Corridor (Bristol, Bath, Swindon, Reading, Slough, West London and surrounding areas)

    Salary: £65,000 – £85,000 + Car Allowance + Package

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a fantastic, growing SME main contractor with an outstanding team culture and strong reputation across the social housing new build sector.

This is a business that prides itself on collaboration, professionalism and delivering high-quality residential projects. With a strong pipeline of work across the M4 corridor, they are now looking to appoint a Health & Safety Manager to work closely with operational teams and help drive best practice across the business.

The role is ideally suited to someone based within easy reach of the M4 corridor between Bristol and West London.

Health & Safety Manager – The Role

This is a broad and influential role within a growing SME contractor where you will work closely with the Operations Director, Contracts Managers and Project Managers across multiple live projects.

You will take ownership of health and safety strategy, systems and site performance across the business while supporting project teams to ensure best practice is embedded across all sites.

This is not a “policing” role. The company is specifically looking for someone who can build rapport, credibility and respect with site and operational teams, working collaboratively to improve standards and drive a positive safety culture.

You will be expected to lead from the front, provide practical support to projects and be comfortable getting into the detail when required.

Health & Safety Manager – Responsibilities

    * Develop, implement and maintain company health and safety policies and procedures

    * Work closely with operational teams across multiple new build housing projects

    * Conduct site visits, inspections and audits across projects along the M4 corridor

    * Support Contracts Managers and Project Managers with risk management and best practice

    * Ensure full compliance with current health and safety legislation and company standards

    * Lead accident and incident investigations and implement preventative measures

    * Promote a proactive and collaborative health and safety culture across the business

    * Provide guidance, training and support to site teams where required

    * Report directly to the Operations Director on health and safety performance

Health & Safety Manager – Requirements

    * Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction sector

    * Experience working within an SME contractor environment is highly desirable

    * Strong knowledge of construction health and safety legislation

    * NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma (or higher) is essential

    * Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across site and management teams

    * Practical, collaborative approach to health and safety leadership

This role would suit an established Health & Safety Manager looking for a more influential position within a growing contractor, or an experienced Health & Safety Advisor / number two ready to step up into a management role.

Health & Safety Manager – The Company

The company is a well-regarded and growing SME main contractor specialising in social housing new build projects. They have a strong reputation for quality, a positive team culture and a supportive management structure.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business where health and safety is genuinely valued and where you will have the opportunity to influence the culture and direction of the company as it continues to grow
