How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Wright Engineering are recruiting for a Design Engineer Manager to join our clients drafting and detailing team and ensure the successful delivery of engineering projects.

    What You’ll Do

    * Lead and manage the Drawing Office team, ensuring high-quality and error-free drawings.

    * Coordinate resources, workloads, and timescales to meet project deadlines and milestones.

    * Act as the central contact for Project Managers, supporting design changes and early planning.

    * Work closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure smooth and timely drawing handovers.

    * Run Kick-Off Meetings, Technical Reviews, and weekly DO meetings to track progress and resolve issues.

    * Review and approve drawings to ensure compliance with company standards and UKCA/legislative requirements.

    * Maintain and improve drawing office processes, quality standards, and document control.

    * Monitor commercial aspects, including variations, drawing hours, and specification changes.

    * Support team development, training, performance management, and recruitment.

    What We’re Looking For

    * Experience managing a drawing office or design team in an engineering environment.

    * Strong technical background in drafting, detailing, or engineering (materials handling experience a plus).

    * Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.

    * Understanding of UKCA marking, Design Risk Assessments, and workshop/site operations (or willingness to learn).

    * Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets and variations.

    * Proficiency with Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect software essential.
