How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Civil Project Engineer
    Sheffield
    Salary: £38,000 - £48,000

    Are you a Civil Project Engineer ready to take the next step with a role that offers project variety, technical ownership and clear progression?

    This Civil Project Engineer opportunity is with a leading consultancy in Sheffield that is continuing to grow and invest in its people. The Civil Project Engineer will join a supportive multi-office civil engineering team delivering highways, drainage and development infrastructure projects across the UK. For a Civil Project Engineer who enjoys hands-on design, coordination and career progression, this is an excellent opportunity within a collaborative and well-run business.

    Key responsibilities
    * Deliver highways and drainage designs for development and adoptable works
    * Prepare calculations, sketches, design models and technical drawings
    * Use AutoCAD, Site3D, Causeway Flow or similar software
    * Work to current standards including CIRIA guides, BRE Digest and BS EN 752
    * Support S278, S38 and S104 approvals and related submissions
    * Manage your workload across multiple projects and support programme delivery
    * Undertake site visits and prepare reports and specifications
    * Support junior staff and contribute to design quality and team efficiency

    Candidate requirements
    * Minimum 3 years of UK highways and drainage design experience
    * Strong AutoCAD, Site3D, Causeway Flow or similar capability
    * Good understanding of S278, S38 and S104 standards
    * Commercial awareness and the ability to manage delivery efficiently
    * Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
    * Working toward Chartership, or interested in pursuing it
