How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CIVIL ENGINEER
    Derby
Salary: £30,000 to £38,000 plus benefits

Civil Engineer with 2-4 years' experience? This is a chance to step into a consultancy where you will gain real design responsibility, exposure to major UK development projects, and clear support to progress your career within a highly experienced civil engineering team.

You will be based in the Derby office, working alongside a friendly and well-established group of engineers and technicians while contributing to projects across the UK. The workload is deliberately varied, covering everything from bespoke residential developments and smaller local schemes through to large commercial, industrial and major residential projects. You will not be restricted to a single sector and will build broad, valuable experience in highways, drainage and development infrastructure.

    The role

As a Civil Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of infrastructure packages from concept through to technical approval.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Assisting with highways design including S38 and S278 works
    * Preparing drainage strategies and detailed designs for S104 and S185 submissions
    * Producing SuDS layouts and earthworks information
    * Preparing drawings and reports using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and InfoDrainage
    * Liaising with architects, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams
    * Supporting Flood Risk Assessments and planning submissions
    * Assisting with project coordination and technical quality control

    About you

    You will ideally have:

    * A degree in Civil Engineering
    * 2 to 4 years' UK consultancy experience
    * Good knowledge of highways and drainage design
    * Confidence using AutoCAD and drainage software
    * Strong communication skills and a proactive approach

    Eligibility to Apply

Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
