How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Architectural Technician
    Location: St Albans
    Salary: £32,000 to £40,000

    A well-established, design-driven architectural practice in St Albans is seeking an Architectural Technician to join its growing team. The studio is known for thoughtful, client-focused design and delivering technically precise projects. Working across all RIBA stages, the practice specialises in high-quality residential and mixed-use schemes. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a technician to take on meaningful responsibility in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

    Role

    Oversee the technical development of residential and mixed-use projects from planning through to completion

    Produce detailed drawing packages and comprehensive construction information

    Coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure projects comply with regulatory and technical standards

    Support project delivery across all RIBA work stages

    Collaborate with senior team members to resolve construction details and technical challenges

    Requirements

    Degree or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology or a related discipline

    Experience in a UK architectural practice in a technical role

    Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and contemporary construction methods

    Proficient in AutoCAD; skills in Photoshop and InDesign are an advantage

    Experience contributing to large-scale residential projects

    Excellent organisational, communication, and coordination skills

    Proactive and solution-oriented approach to technical problem solving
