How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Secondary Teacher – Mathematics

    Full-time | Long-term opportunities (After Easter)
    Smile Education is working in partnership with several values-driven secondary schools in Oldham to recruit a passionate and committed Mathematics Teacher starting in April 2026.     About the Role
    As a Secondary Maths Teacher, you will deliver a broad, balanced, and engaging Mathematics curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning for all students. You will foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes achievement and resilience.
    Depending on the placement, roles may include:

    Long-term cover
    Temp-to-perm opportunities
    Supply or block placements via the Guaranteed Pay Scheme
    The Ideal Candidate Will:

    Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
    Possess QTS or a Level 5 teaching qualification (highly desirable, though not essential).
    Demonstrate proficiency in the secondary curriculum and use effective instructional techniques to drive student results.
    Exhibit strong communication skills, with a genuine passion for motivating students to excel in Maths and celebrate their individuality.
    Maintain a safe, welcoming, and disciplined environment that encourages students of all abilities to engage with complex concepts.
    Maintain an Enhanced DBS clearance and a commitment to rigorous safeguarding standards.
