How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Marine Systems Design Engineer
    Near Southampton
    Full time - Permanent 
    £50,000 - £65,000

    Are you an experienced marine systems design specialist who enjoys taking complete ownership of complex vessel systems from concept through to production? Do you thrive in environments where your design decisions directly influence vessel capability, safety, and long‑term reliability? If so, my client is offering a rare opportunity to join a forward‑thinking maritime engineering team where your expertise will genuinely make an impact.

    My client is now seeking a Senior Marine Systems Design Engineer to lead the specification, integration, and detailed design of primary onboard systems across an innovative portfolio of vessels ranging from two to 24 metres. This is a hands‑on, technically involved role where your systems knowledge and Siemens NX capability will shape high quality layouts, production data, and essential project documentation.

    Key Responsibilities

    Specification and integration of primary mechanical and auxiliary systems, including:
    Propulsion
    Bilge
    Fire
    Hydraulics
    HVAC
    Cable and piping routing using Siemens NX within the master GA
    Production of primary equipment lists
    Creation of P&IDs and associated calculations in line with Class rules or first principles
    Input into MRP BOM
    Collaboration with internal engineering teams, regulatory bodies, suppliers, and shipyardsEssential Skills and Experience

    Strong experience in maritime systems design and integration across all major onboard systems
    Proven ability to model and route systems in Siemens NX to produce accurate production information
    Experience working with regulatory authorities
    Ability to liaise with shipyard shop floor teams regarding design changes, updates, and as‑fit modificationsDesirable Skills and Experience

    3D CAD modelling experience in Siemens NX
    Electrical design understanding
    Experience with Teamcenter PDM
    Knowledge of configuration control
