How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Overview

    Delighted to partner with this leading group of Irish Wholesale & Distribution businesses, who are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Specialist.
    Working closely with the Senior H&S Manager, The H&S Specialist will be a trusted advisor for Business Unit(s) working closely with Branch Managers and Area Managers and their peer group to develop and implement a culture and system for health and safety that will deliver sector leading performance in this area. 
    Key Responsibilities:

    Supporting the development of Group Safety Management system building specific responses and solutions to H&S risks in their business unit(s).
    Supporting the Senior H&S Manager / H&S Manager on Business unit initiatives, ensuring H&S is considered appropriately.
    In conjunction with Branch / Region colleagues, investigate H&S incidents, produce the incident report and ensure lessons learned and corrective actions are implemented.
    Support the Senior Manager in analysing H&S performance in the business unit, highlighting root causes and solutions.
    To challenge and escalate, where appropriate and act as the conscience of the business.
    To champion health & safety as a core business value, embedding into operational routines, meetings and priorities throughout their business unit.
    To deliver H&S training courses and ongoing coaching, to Branch / Region colleagues.
    Conduct H&S monitoring visits / audits, collate results and ensure common themes / areas of weakness are addressed. 
    Education, Experience & Competencies:

    Preferably 2 year's relevant H&S experience preferably within the Warehousing/Distribution/Retail sectors
    Relevant NEBOSH / General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
    Preferably a member of the Institution of Occupation Safety and Health (IOSH) (TechIOSH minimum)
    Experience of working within a H&S team supporting change and improvement.
    Understanding the commercial objectives of a business and can take a risk-based approach to H&S.
    Experience of working in a multi-site, fast moving environment.
