How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Aircraft Fitter / Mechanic – Ex-Forces Encouraged to Apply

    Day Shift | Aviation Sector

Arden White Aerospace and Aviation Recruitment is working with a respected aviation company seeking an Aircraft Fitter / Mechanic. This role is ideal for ex-RAF, Army, or Navy personnel with hands-on engineering or mechanical experience and an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent practical trade qualification) looking to transition into civilian aviation.

If you’re disciplined, safety-focused, and used to working in high-standards environments — we want to hear from you.

    The Role

As an unlicensed Aircraft Engineer, you will support aircraft maintenance activities in strict compliance with technical documentation and company procedures. Military engineering, mechanical, ground crew, REME, RAF, Navy, or aviation support experience is highly transferable to this role.

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out aircraft maintenance tasks under the direction of the Hangar Foreman and engineering leads

Work safely alongside team members to maintain operational standards

Move equipment, tooling, and spares (forklift training provided)

Assist with aircraft cleaning and hangar housekeeping

Service aircraft toilets during maintenance operations

Manage fuel and oil spillages safely and professionally

    Support aircraft manoeuvring activities

Follow waste separation and recycling procedures

Maintain equipment and vehicles in safe working condition

Charge and service lifting equipment batteries

Report hazards and safety concerns immediately

    Recommend safety and efficiency improvements

Support wider hangar team duties as required
    Ideal Background

Ex-military engineering, mechanical, or technical trade background

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent vocational qualification

Experience working in disciplined, safety-critical environments

    Strong teamwork and communication skills

    Comfortable with physical, hands-on work

Aviation or aerodrome experience desirable but not essential

Full civilian aviation training will be provided.

    Package & Benefits

    Competitive starting salary

    Day shifts: 7am–7pm

    Rotation: 5 on / 5 off / 4 on / 5 off / 5 on / 4 off

20 days holiday + bank holidays

(increases yearly after 2 years up to 25 days)

    Pension scheme

    Company sick pay after probation

Clear pathway into civilian aviation careers

    Apply Now

Our client is actively hiring, and positions will fill quickly.

We understand the value ex-forces professionals bring: discipline, reliability, teamwork, and technical skill. This is an opportunity to transfer those strengths into a long-term civilian aviation career.

Arden White prides itself on delivering a personal, high-quality recruitment service. Due to high application volumes, if you have not been contacted within 14 days, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. We will endeavour to keep your details on file and contact you regarding future opportunities.

Arden White is acting as a recruitment agency for this position.

If you want, I can shorten this into a LinkedIn post, add a salary band, or make it more punchy for job boards.
