How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The overall purpose of the post is to work in partnership with parents / carers and other professionals in undertaking a range of tasks to provide support, guidance and care to children and their families to enable children to safely be cared for by their families.

    The main tasks of the post are:

    As part of a plan, to undertake direct work with parents/carers and children, involving both individual and, if appropriate, group work activities, promoting as paramount the welfare of children and their families

    To provide information to colleagues in order to assist in the assessment of need and the decision-making process; including making observations upon the progress made towards achieving goals and making recommendations as to future work

    When identifying concerns about a child, to report those concerns to a social worker / manager as appropriate To help service users to establish and maintain personal relationships that are positive and confidence in social situations

    Transport and escort adults, children / young people as appropriate To ensure that records are kept in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards of the department

    To maintain and develop communications and co-operation with colleagues, individuals and groups in the community and other statutory and voluntary agencies

    To attend and contribute in appropriate meetings in line with their duties

    To contribute to the development of high quality services

    • To maintain personal and professional development and standards through training opportunities (e.g. NVQ)

    • To have regard for the health, safety and welfare of colleagues and service users, and to ensure that responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work are complied with To comply with the range of Council and departmental policies and procedures e.g. Equal Opportunities, Customer Care

    • The post-holder will participate fully in the Children's Services 'Dignity at Work' scheme for supervision and appraisal To ensure that departmental policy, procedure and standards in relation to confidentiality, information security and Data Protection are complied with at all times
