How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

While based in Newcastle, the team delivers projects across England, Scotland, and Wales, alongside a strong local client base.

    Key responsibilities include:

Managing and coordinating planning and consenting submissions

Acting as the senior planning contact for clients and key stakeholders

Leading consultation with local planning authorities, statutory consultees, and communities

Managing project programmes, budgets, and quality standards

Mentoring and supporting junior planners within the team

Working collaboratively with engineering, transport, environmental, and design teams

    About You

The ideal Senior Planner will have:

A strong track record of leading complex planning applications from pre-application through to determination

    Proven experience managing client relationships

Experience mentoring or leading junior staff or project teams

A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline

MRTPI Chartered status (or working at Chartered level)

A strong understanding of planning policy, development management, and the wider regulatory environment

Confident written and verbal communication skills

    Desirable:

Experience or exposure to EIA projects

Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets or programmes

    What's On Offer

A senior role with genuine responsibility and autonomy

A diverse and high-profile project portfolio

    Flexible and hybrid working

Enhanced annual leave, pension, private healthcare, and professional subscriptions

Structured CPD and a collaborative, quality-driven culture
