How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company:
A growing, UK‑based building services consultancy with a strong focus on MEP design, sustainability and low‑carbon solutions. Our teams of highly qualified mechanical, electrical and sustainability engineers work across a wide range of projects - from new builds to refurbishments - supporting clients from concept through to completion.

With offices in Edinburgh and Manchester, we deliver building services engineering that prioritises energy performance, decarbonisation and innovative design approaches to help clients transition toward Net Zero. As part of our team, you'll join a collaborative group of specialists who are passionate about delivering technically strong, sustainable and future‑focused solutions.

    Your new role:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering electrical building services design across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to design development, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality engineering solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking autonomy, technical leadership, and clear progression within a respected consultancy.

    Key Responsibilities:
Lead electrical building services design from concept through to detailed stages.
Produce and review design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Work collaboratively with mechanical, sustainability, and structural engineering teams.
Attend client meetings, conduct site visits, and support project delivery.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
Mentor and support junior/intermediate engineers within the team.
Contribute to improving processes, design quality, and technical excellence within the department.

    What you'll need to succeed:
Proven experience in electrical building services engineering within a consultancy environment.
Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, wiring regulations (BS 7671), and industry standards.
Proficiency in relevant design software such as Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and CAD/Revit experience is beneficial.
Ability to manage your own workload and lead elements of projects independently.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
Chartered or working towards Chartership (IET/CIBSE) is advantageous.

    What you'll get in return:
Competitive salary aligned with your skills and experience.
Hybrid working options and flexible working arrangements.
Clear career progression and support towards Chartership.
Opportunities to work on varied, high‑profile projects across multiple sectors.
A supportive, people‑focused culture with ongoing professional development.
Enhanced benefits package, including pension and generous annual leave.
