How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Development & Research Engine Test Technician
    Location: Peterborough

    Contract: 12-Month Initial Contract (Long-term project potential)

    Compensation: Up to £16.46/hr basic | £19.75/hr total (including 20% shift allowance)

    The Role
    Are you a mechanically minded technician with a passion for the future of engine technology? Join a world-class Global Engine Development (GED) team at a premier testing facility. This is a hands-on role at the forefront of product validation, certification, and green energy innovation.

    85% Test Bed Operations: Installing engines (0.5L to 18L) into test cells, connecting measurement equipment, and executing high-quality data collection.

    15% Development: Engaging in technical investigations, training, and value stream improvement projects.

    Problem Solving: Diagnosing and fixing mechanical and electrical faults on both engines and test cell equipment.

    The 24/7 Shift Pattern
    This role follows a specialized 28-day cycle designed for work-life balance while maintaining continuous operations. You will work a total of 14 days out of every 28:

    Cycle: 4 Nights → 2 Days Off → 3 Days On → 2 Days Off → 3 Nights On → 2 Days Off → 4 Days On → 8 Days Off.

    Shift Times: 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am).

    What We Are Looking For
    We are seeking individuals who want to build a long-term career in research and development.

    Background: An Engineering or Motor Mechanics apprenticeship is highly desirable.

    Experience: Proven skills in engine diagnostics, mechanical maintenance, or previous engine testing experience.

    Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand/power tools and basic Microsoft Office.

    Mindset: A "mistake-free" approach to work with a focus on Health & Safety.
