How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Primary Teaching Assistant – Sandwell, West Midlands

Location: Sandwell (Oldbury, West Bromwich, Smethwick, Rowley Regis)

    Job Type: Daily Cover / Short-Term / Long-Term Roles

    Salary: £95 – £120 per day (DOE)

Are you looking for rewarding Teaching Assistant roles in Sandwell?

Zen Educate is currently recruiting passionate Primary Teaching Assistants for a variety of positions across the Sandwell borough. Whether you are seeking the flexibility of daily cover, the consistency of short-term blocks, or the stability of a long-term contract, we have schools in the West Midlands waiting to meet you.

We are specifically looking for individuals who are open to working with SEN students (Special Educational Needs). Many of our partner schools in Sandwell require empathetic assistants to support pupils with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs within mainstream and specialist settings.

    The Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant in Sandwell, your daily responsibilities will include:

    *

Supporting the Class Teacher in delivering lessons across EYFS, KS1, or KS2.

    *

Working one-to-one or with small groups of SEN students to ensure inclusive learning.

    *

Helping to create a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.

    *

Assisting with playground supervision and general classroom preparation.

    *

Implementing tailored support plans for children with additional learning needs.

Why Choose Zen Educate? (The Social Enterprise Difference)

Zen Educate is not a traditional recruitment agency. We are a Social Enterprise on a mission to improve the education system in Birmingham and Sandwell.

    *

Higher Pay for Support Staff: We believe Primary Teaching Assistants deserve fair pay. By removing expensive agency commissions, we pay our staff more—typically £95 – £120 per day.

    *

More Funding for Schools: Because our fees are lower, Sandwell schools keep more of their budget for the children’s education.

    *

Ethical Career Moves: We don't charge "buy-out" fees. If a school offers you a permanent job, you are free to take it without any financial barriers.

    *

Smart App Technology: Manage your diary, accept local West Midlands bookings, and submit timesheets with a single tap.

    *

Personalised Support: Get expert advice from our team to help you find the right long-term or daily cover role.

    Requirements

To be a successful Primary Teaching Assistant in Sandwell, you must have:

    *

Experience working with children (School, Nursery, Youth Work, or Care settings).

    *

A patient, adaptable, and resilient nature, especially when working with SEN students.

    *

A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).

    *

The right to work in the UK and easy access to the Sandwell area.

    *

A commitment to improving outcomes for primary-aged pupils.
