How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A leading global engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to join their team.

    The Senior Fire Engineer will work across a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects spanning transport, healthcare, residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.

    The Senior Fire Engineer will play a key role in delivering innovative, performance-based fire engineering solutions on complex and large-scale developments.

    The Senior Fire Engineer's Role

    The Senior Fire Engineer will lead the delivery of fire engineering services across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to detailed design.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Developing comprehensive fire safety strategies for a wide range of projects
    Reviewing designs to ensure compliance with current regulations and standards
    Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective fire safety solutions
    Undertaking and overseeing fire and smoke modelling and interpreting results
    Managing fire engineering elements of projects to meet deadlines and budgets
    Conducting site visits, inspections, and technical assessments
    Carrying out peer reviews and maintaining high-quality deliverables
    Engaging with clients and stakeholders, providing expert technical advice
    Supporting business development and resource planning activitiesThe Senior Fire Engineer

    The successful Senior Fire Engineer will demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise, and consultancy experience.

    Essential:

    Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
    Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
    Strong experience with fire and smoke modelling tools (CFD, evacuation, or zone models)
    In-depth knowledge of UK and international fire standards (e.g. NFPA, IBC)
    Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills
    Proven experience delivering performance-based fire engineering solutionsDesirable:

    Experience across both building and infrastructure projects
    Familiarity with advanced modelling tools such as Fire Dynamics SimulatorIn Return?
