How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Primary Teacher (KS2 Specialist) – Birmingham, West Midlands

Are you an inspirational Primary Teacher with a passion for Key Stage 2? Zen Educate is currently seeking experienced and newly qualified Primary Teachers for a variety of roles across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

Whether you are looking for the flexibility of day-to-day supply, a short-term block, or a long-term contract for the full academic year, we have opportunities in diverse primary schools across the city. We are particularly looking for specialists who can confidently lead a KS2 classroom and prepare pupils for the transition to secondary education.

    The Role

As a Primary Teacher in Birmingham, you will take responsibility for a KS2 class, delivering engaging lessons that spark curiosity and academic progress. Your role will involve:

    *

Planning and delivering high-quality lessons tailored to the KS2 National Curriculum.

    *

Using assessment data to track pupil progress and implement effective interventions.

    *

Managing classroom behaviour positively to create a productive learning environment.

    *

Supporting pupils through the challenges of SATs and upper Primary milestones.

    Why Choose Zen Educate?

Zen Educate is a Social Enterprise, not a traditional recruitment agency. Our mission is to balance the scales by ensuring more money stays in Birmingham schools and goes into the pockets of the Primary Teachers who do the hard work.

The benefits of our social enterprise model include:

    *

Fairer Pay: We believe Primary Teachers deserve to be paid fairly for their expertise. By removing the high commission structures of traditional agencies, we provide higher daily rates.

    *

Cost-Effective for Schools: Our platform reduces the financial burden on West Midlands schools, allowing them to reinvest savings into student resources and staff development.

    *

No Hidden Clauses: We don’t use "temp-to-perm" fees that stop you from accepting a permanent job. If you find a KS2 role you love, we make the transition easy.

    *

User-Friendly App: Set your availability, browse Birmingham teaching roles, and manage your bookings all in one place.

    *

Professional Growth: Gain access to CPD and support from a team that genuinely understands the Primary education landscape in the West Midlands.

    Requirements

    *

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

    *

Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (KS2) within a UK Primary school.

    *

A deep understanding of the KS2 curriculum and assessment frameworks.

    *

A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one).

    *

Right to work in the UK and a commitment to working in Birmingham.
