How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CompEx Electrician – Detailed & Atex Inspection (Ascension Island)
    Start Date: 16th April
    Initial Duration: 4 weeks
    Potential Extension: A further 4 weeks immediately following
    Working Pattern: 6 days per week (Sunday rest day)
    Rates & Allowances
    Flights and accommodation paid for
    £355 per day
    £25 per day food allowance

    Successful operatives will be required to:
    Obtain an ACRO Police Certificate
    Apply for an E-Visa
    These processes will be managed by the client.

    Role Overview
    To conduct detailed and apex inspections of hazardous area electrical installations in accordance with BS EN (phone number removed), ATEX/DSEAR principles, and site safety standards. The role is based on Ascension Island and involves working in a remote, industrial environment supporting critical infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities
    Perform Detailed (Close) Inspections of Ex-rated equipment.
    Conduct Atex (Initial/Periodic) Inspections to verify full compliance of hazardous area installations.
    Inspect protection concepts including Ex d, Ex e, Ex i, Ex n, Ex t systems.
    Examine cable glands, terminations, earthing/bonding, and enclosure integrity.
    Verify equipment certification, tagging, and hazardous area classification compliance.
    Record and categorise defects (minor/major/critical).
    Produce structured inspection reports and remedial action lists.
    Work in compliance with site-specific safety management systems.
    Support engineering teams during shutdowns or upgrade projects.

    Essential Qualifications
    CompEx Certification (Ex01–Ex04 minimum)
    Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship / NVQ/SVQ Level 3
    18th Edition (BS 7671)
    Proven hazardous area inspection experience
    Strong working knowledge of BS EN 60079 series
