How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the role
We are seeking an experienced SEND professional to lead the implementation and ongoing delivery of high quality support for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other High Needs across York College.

This is an operational leadership role requiring someone who can confidently own and drive EHCP processes end to end, ensuring compliant, timely statutory reviews, effective transition planning, accurate funding utilisation, and a consistently excellent learner experience.

You will manage and develop a team, providing clear direction and professional support as they oversee the learner journey from pre entry through to progression. Working collaboratively with Local Authorities, curriculum leaders, and a range of internal and external stakeholders, you will act as the primary point of contact for SEND across college, ensuring provision is robust, responsive, and aligned to the SEND Code of Practice.

This role is ideal for someone who already has substantial, proven experience working at a similar level within post 16 SEND or High Needs provision and is ready to take ownership of a complex and meaningful portfolio of work.

    About the Person
We are looking for a confident and highly experienced SEND practitioner with a strong operational background in managing EHCP processes within the post-16 sector. You will bring an in-depth understanding of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice, High Needs funding, quality frameworks (including Ofsted), and the realities of working at pace within a busy FE environment.

    The ideal candidate will have:
Substantial experience leading SEND/EHCP operations, including statutory reviews, consultations, transition planning, support planning, and the effective use of data to drive decision-making.
Proven team-leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing SEND practitioners and fostering a culture of reflection, consistency, and high-quality practice.
A strong, confident communication style, able to manage challenging conversations with Local Authorities, parents/carers, curriculum colleagues, and other professionals.
A solution-focused, evidence-driven approach, with the ability to work autonomously, prioritise a complex caseload, and maintain high standards of compliance and record keeping. This role will suit someone who is self-directed, resilient, and deeply committed to securing the best possible outcomes for learners with SEND.
