How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Estimator – Refurbishment Projects

    The Opportunity

I am working with a well-established small construction company specialising in refurbishment and improvement works across the education, social housing, and commercial sectors. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint an Estimator to support our pre-construction and tendering activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator who enjoys working in a close‑knit team, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable pricing a wide variety of refurbishment schemes using Excel-based systems.

    The Role

As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for refurbishment projects ranging from small works through to contracts valued up to £1m.

You will work closely with the directors, site teams, and supply chain, playing a key role in securing new work and supporting project delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for refurbishment projects

    * Take-off quantities from drawings and specifications

    * Build and manage estimates using Excel-based pricing systems

    * Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations

    * Review tender documents, identify risks, and propose value engineering options

    * Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits where required

    * Support bid submissions, including pricing schedules and clarifications

    * Assist with post-tender queries and handover to delivery teams

    * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of materials, labour rates, and market conditions

    About You

    * Proven experience as an Estimator within construction or refurbishment

    * Experience pricing education, social housing, or commercial projects preferred

    * Comfortable working on multiple tenders simultaneously

    * Strong Excel skills essential

    * Good understanding of building regulations and refurbishment methodologies

    * Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

    * Able to work independently within a small business environment

    * Strong communication skills when dealing with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues

    Why Join Us?

    * Join a friendly, supportive small business where your contribution is valued

    * Work on varied refurbishment schemes across multiple sectors

    * Direct access to decision-makers and senior management

    * Opportunity to grow with the business and progress your career

    * Competitive salary with stability and long-term prospects

    Interested?

If you’re an Estimator with refurbishment experience and strong Excel skills, we’d love to hear from you.
