How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Embedded Software Engineer

    Permanent | Hybrid, Dorset | C++ | C programming

    The role:

    We are looking for an Embedded Software Developer to join a forward‑thinking R&D team within a global organisation specialising in intelligent infrastructure solutions.

    You’ll help develop technology that makes transport networks safer, more efficient and more sustainable. The systems you work on will support next‑generation mobility solutions used by cities, road authorities and infrastructure operators around the world.

    This role offers a flexible hybrid working pattern, with only two days a week required on site at our Dorset office. You’ll have the freedom to balance remote work with in person collaboration, all within a supportive team that values a healthy work life balance.

    Responsibilities:

    æ Define firmware requirements and plan implementation.

    æ Design, develop, test and review embedded firmware across multiple platforms.

    æ Integrate and test firmware with hardware and wider system components.

    æ Take part in stand‑ups and planning sessions.

    æ Support existing firmware, diagnose and resolve bugs, and plan release updates.

    Skills & Experience:

    æ Strong C or C++ programming skills in embedded environments.

    æ Experience developing firmware for microcontrollers and using RTOS.

    æ Understanding of hardware schematics and interfaces such as I2C, SPI and CAN.

    æ Confident with firmware and hardware integration and debugging (STM, TI, Keil, Code Composer Studio).

    æ Able to gather, understand and break down requirements into clear features.

    æ Good communication and teamwork skills.

    Desirable skills:

    æ Familiarity with Git, GitLab, Jira and Confluence.

    æ Experience with branching strategies and technical documentation.

    æ CPU card experience.

    æ PCB experience.
