How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We're currently working with a Civil Engineering Contractor in the East Midlands who are looking to hire their first Lead Bid Writer.

    As the company’s first dedicated Lead Bid Writer, you will take full ownership of the bid and tender submission process, working closely with Directors, Estimators and Operational teams to produce high-quality, compelling submissions.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    *

    Managing the end-to-end bid process from PQQ/SSQ through to ITT submission

    *

    Writing, editing and coordinating high-quality tender responses tailored to client requirements

    *

    Collaborating with operational, commercial and technical teams to gather relevant content and technical input

    *

    Reviewing tender documentation and identifying key deliverables, risks and win themes

    *

    Developing and maintaining a central content library for future submissions

    *

    Improving bid processes, templates and governance across the business

    *

    Ensuring submissions are compliant, professionally presented and delivered within deadlines

    *

    Supporting Directors with presentation materials and interview preparation where required

    *

    Analysing feedback from successful and unsuccessful bids to drive continuous improvement

    This is a strategic appointment, offering the opportunity to build structure, implement best practice and influence how the business approaches work-winning moving forward.

    The Candidate

    The business is open-minded on background, but you are likely to:

    Have proven experience in bid writing within civil engineering, Infrastructure, Highways.

    Be confident managing multiple deadlines and working independently

    Possess strong communication and organisational skills

    Be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders across the business

    Be proactive, commercially aware and keen to play a key role in a growing contractor
