How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    I am currently recruiting on behalf of my client for a Field Service Engineer to join their growing engineering team based in Halifax, West Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly regarded and well-established business that operates on a global scale, supporting customers across a wide range of industries.

    This role offers the chance to travel internationally on a regular basis, working on specialist equipment at customer sites worldwide. You will typically spend 2 to 3 weeks per month overseas, with all travel, accommodation and expenses covered, along with additional allowances for staying away. When not travelling, you will be based from the UK site supporting workshop activities and preparing for upcoming work.

    This position would be particularly well suited to an ex-military engineer with both electrical and mechanical skills who is looking for a role offering variety, autonomy and the opportunity to travel the world while applying their technical expertise in a customer facing environment.

    Field Service Engineer Responsibilities:

    * Carry out service, calibration and maintenance activities on specialist equipment at customer sites in the UK and overseas.

    * Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults to ensure equipment operates effectively.

    * Carry out testing and commissioning activities to a high standard.

    * Provide technical support to customers both on site and remotely when required.

    * Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures, quality standards and health and safety requirements.

    * Complete all documentation including service reports, timesheets and expenses accurately and in a timely manner.

    * Maintain tools, equipment and vehicle stock to ensure readiness for travel and site work.

    * Work closely with internal teams to support continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

    Field Service Engineer Requirements:

    * NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

    * Strong electrical fault finding skills combined with good mechanical understanding.

    * Experience working on machinery, equipment or technical systems.

    * Ability and willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    * Self motivated with the ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

    * Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers.

    Field Service Engineer Benefits:

    * Competitive salary plus additional allowances for working away.

    * Regular international travel with all expenses covered.

    * Company car, laptop, mobile phone and company credit card.

    * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

    * Private medical cover and pension scheme.

    * Full product training provided.

    NOTE: Our client encourages applications from candidates from both commercial and ex-military backgrounds, particularly those from the Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force with electro-mechanical engineering skills
