How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Support) – Year 1
    Location: Brent, London
    Start Date: 13/04/2026
    Contract: Full-time, Temporary (Long-term)
    Salary: £90–£100 per day

A role where your approach truly matters

Teach Now is working with a welcoming and well-supported primary school in Brent to recruit a confident and experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with Autism.

This is a rewarding but specialist role, ideal for someone who understands that consistency, structure, and clear boundaries are key to helping pupils succeed.

    About the Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support a bright and capable KS1 pupil who benefits from firm, consistent guidance and clear expectations.

    The pupil may present with:

    • Boundary testing and resistance to direction
    • Challenges with emotional regulation and transitions

Your role will be to provide structured, consistent support to help them engage positively with learning and school routines.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
    • Supporting learning, focus, and classroom engagement
    • Reinforcing clear expectations set by the class teacher
    • Managing behaviour with consistency and confidence
    • Supporting emotional regulation and transitions
    • Building a positive, professional relationship based on respect

This role requires the right balance of warmth and authority.

The ideal 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant will:

    • Have experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASD)
    • Be proactive and able to anticipate needs
    • Be calm, resilient, and confident under pressure
    • Set clear boundaries and follow through consistently
    • Use a direct, structured approach when needed
    • Demonstrate strong behaviour management in KS1
    • Able to build positive relationships without losing authority
    • Committed to making a long-term impact

This pupil responds best to adults who:

    • Are consistent and firm with expectations
    • Maintain clear boundaries
    • Build respect as well as rapport

A nurturing but overly passive approach is less effective—this role suits someone who can confidently lead while remaining supportive.

    What’s on Offer
    • Supportive and experienced school team
    • A structured environment with clear guidance
    • Long-term opportunity with potential for extension
    • Competitive daily pay
    • The chance to make a genuine difference in a child’s development

If you’re a confident and proactive 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant who can combine structure, consistency, and care, this is an excellent opportunity to have a meaningful impact in a supportive Brent school.
