How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fire & Security Alarm Engineer
    Location: Saffron Walden (and surrounding areas)
    Permanent (with potential for temporary/contract option)
    Salary: £36,000 – £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)

    About the Role
    We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Fire & Security Alarm Engineer to join our growing team based around Saffron Walden. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a stable, long-term position, with flexibility for temporary arrangements if preferred.

    In this on-site role, you will install, maintain, and repair fire alarm and security systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of fire safety protocols and technical troubleshooting skills. Collaboration with clients and attention to detail are necessary for this position.

    Key Responsibilities

    Installation, servicing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems
    Fault finding and repair of fire and security systems
    Working on intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems
    Ensuring all work complies with relevant safety standards and regulations
    Providing excellent customer service and maintaining strong client relationships
    Completing all necessary documentation and reports accurately
    Requirements

    Proven experience working with fire alarm and/or security systems
    Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
    Knowledge of relevant British Standards (e.g. BS5839)
    Full UK driving licence
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Good communication and customer-facing skills
    Desirable (but not essential)

    FIA or relevant industry qualifications
    Experience with a range of manufacturers and systems
    ECS/CSCS card
