Assistant Materials Technician

Our client, is currently seeking multiple Assistant Materials Technicians (4 positions) to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves assisting in sampling and testing materials both on-site and in the laboratory in Micheldever.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting Senior Technicians in pavement investigation and testing (coring)
Recording materials information, laying conditions, and temperatures for asphalt laying records
Sampling construction materials such as asphalt, concrete, soils, and aggregates
Carrying out minor reinstatement work on the carriageway, including setting out basic traffic management
Maintaining health, safety, and wellbeing standards for themselves and colleagues

Job Requirements:

Full UK driving licence with car use (category B); ability to travel to Micheldever, Winchester
Preferably capable of towing a trailer
Experience in civil engineering, highways, or construction
Valid CSCS card
Construction site experience

Additional Information:

No DBS required for this role
Contract duration: 6 Months
Typical hours: 37 hours a week
Planned start date: 22-04-2026
Training will be provided to upskill in basic site testing and sampling
Role location: County Highways Laboratory, Micheldever
