How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor

    Swindon (Covering Southwest)

    Up to £65,000

    Permanent

Looking for a permanent Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established groundworks and civil engineering contractor in Wiltshire. This role involves taking commercial responsibility for multiple groundworks packages including roads, drainage, foundations, and externals, on residential developments across the South West.

You’ll work closely with operational teams and housebuilder clients, managing projects from initial cost planning through to final accounts.

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in quantity surveying within groundworks or civil engineering, with a strong understanding of residential projects.

You should be commercially savvy, proactive in problem-solving, and capable of managing multiple live sites simultaneously.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as you'll be liaising directly with clients and site teams to ensure projects are delivered profitably and efficiently.

    What's required:

Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in groundworks or civil engineering

Strong track record working with residential developers or housebuilders

Commercially sharp with a proactive, solutions-focused approach

Ability to manage multiple sites effectively

Good understanding of groundworks packages (roads, drainage, foundations, externals)

Excellent communication skills for dealing with clients and operational teams

This is a straightforward, long-term opportunity with a reputable business that values independence and expertise. The role offers a salary up to £65,000, with the chance to grow alongside a thriving pipeline of residential schemes. You’ll benefit from a stable, well-established organisation that trusts its people and provides room for professional development. If you're ready to get stuck into solid projects and work with a team that knows what it’s doing, this could be the role for you. No fluff, just results
