How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

    Part time / Full time

    Stoke-on-Trent & surrounding areas (choose your location/school)

    £95–£105 per day

    About the Opportunity

    Astro Education are looking to place dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants in a range of primary schools across Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas. Our partner schools are based across Stoke, including Hanley, Burslem, Tunstall, Longton, Fenton, Newcastle-under-Lyme and nearby locations.

    These roles involve providing 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence and thrive within the classroom environment. Positions are available on a part time, full time, long term and potentially permanent basis.

    Successful candidates will earn between £95 and £105 per day depending on experience.

    What you will need to succeed:

    Primary Schools across Stoke-on-Trent are looking for patient, caring and resilient individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

    Whether you have previous SEN experience or are looking to move into this rewarding area of education, Astro Education can support and guide you every step of the way.

    Required Experience:

    * Experience working with children (SEN experience desirable but not essential)

    * A passion for supporting children with additional needs

    * Patience, resilience and a nurturing approach

    * Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

    * Experience supporting or willingness to support a variety of SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH)

    * Ability to work core school hours (8:30–15:30)
