How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We have opportunities for Principal EC&I Engineers based in Warrington on a hybrid basis. Candidates will be responsible for leading CE&I electrical systems design for projects including SIXEP Cooling Towers, TR&S Cooling System Replacement project and Other Local Projects.

    The role will involve the production and checking of engineering deliverables to support design development through concept and preliminary phases, and into detail design, and assistance during installation and commissioning borne design queries.

    Candidates can start with BPSS security clearance whilst higher level clearance is being undertaken.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Provide technical support across all aspects of CE&I engineering, contributing expertise throughout optioneering, front-end design, and detailed design phases.

    Lead and take full responsibility for the delivery of CE&I design elements, ensuring compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and legal obligations.

    Work within a small, integrated design team to produce and deliver design packages to agreed milestones.

    Independently determine project requirements and translate user needs and technical specifications into safe, compliant, fully engineered design solutions.

    Produce and contribute to multi‑disciplinary design documentation, including: Project Requirement Documents, Basis of Design, Design Justification Reports, Verification Plans, Quality Plans, and CDM-compliant documentation.

    Review, check, and verify CE&I design deliverables, supporting quality assurance within the discipline.

    Estimate hours for scope changes or additional work and develop associated schedules, progress reporting, and discipline plans.

    Support and participate in design reviews and coordinate closely with the Integrated Design Team, facility teams (including systems engineering), and wider project functions throughout project phases.

    Undertake space management, panel layout development, cable routing, cable management design, and cable calculations as required.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    Significant demonstrable experience in CE&I project delivery and the production of CE&I design packages.

    Strong understanding of CE&I deliverables and the design process across all CE&I disciplines.

    Experience in Process Instrumentation Design and LV Electrical Power & Services Design.

    Knowledge of Machinery Safety and UKCA marking requirements.

    Ability to manage design delivery teams and work collaboratively within an integrated team environment, as well as independently under time constraints.

    Skilled in estimating, scheduling, and progress reporting.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal ability and confidence engaging at all organisational levels.

    Minimum qualification: ONC. Preferred: Engineering Degree (BEng/MEng).

    DESIRABLE:

    Experience with Programmable Electronic Systems.

    Radiometric Instrumentation knowledge.
