How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An UK leading and globally recognised construction and project delivery consultancy is seeking a Cost Manager to join their Cambridge team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Cost Manager to develop within a highly professional and structured commercial environment, working across a varied portfolio of projects including life sciences, commercial and advanced manufacturing schemes.

    The successful Cost Manager will support senior commercial staff across the full project lifecycle, gaining exposure to both pre- and post-contract duties. This Cost Manager role offers strong career progression and hands-on experience within a leading consultancy, making it ideal for an ambitious Cost Manager looking to build a long-term career.

    The Role
    * Assisting with cost planning, budgeting and feasibility studies
    * Supporting procurement processes, tender preparation and analysis
    * Assisting in the administration of contracts (primarily JCT)
    * Monitoring project costs, variations and change control
    * Supporting valuations, interim payments and final accounts
    * Preparing cost reports and financial updates
    * Working closely with project teams and stakeholders to support successful delivery

    The Cost Manager?
    * Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
    * Previous experience as a Cost Manager, Assistant Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor in a consultancy environment
    * Understanding of JCT contracts and commercial processes
    * Strong numerical and analytical skills
    * Good communication and organisational ability
    * Ambition to progress towards chartership (RICS or similar)
